Emily Ward
I have been photographing and working on sites for a little over six years. I took several courses in photography while I was attending Pacific University from 2001-2005, and I am completely self taught in web design (with a bit of help from my Father). This idea for a small buisness started when I realized that I would have the entire summer off from teaching (I am a full time Drama Teacher). I would go stir crazy if I had nothing to do!
My Photography Method
My method in photography is to place the subject at ease by talking to them, and then I just capture the best moments from the discussion. I am in no means a director when it comes to photography, except for the minor, "Turn your head toward me, etc." I prefer to think of photographing someone as a collaboration in which we all work to create a beautiful image.
I am currently using a Sony DSC-F828 and an Olympus om10.
Web Design
As for web design, I decided to provide sites to talent, arts organizations, and non-profits because I know from experience, that these are the folks who need a good site...but can't afford the big bucks to get one. My mission is to provide clean and appealing sites at low cost. I currently use Dreamweaver for web design.
Arts Connection
I have been involved in theatre since the 6th grade. I knew that I wanted to work in that field as I was growning up. In college, I earned a BA in Theatre and MA in Teaching. I have been teaching Drama for almost three years now and I really love working with students.
I interned for CoHo Productions while in college and that started me in the professional theatre business in 2004. I have worked box office for theatre companies in the Portland area including CoHo, Profile Theatre, and Home Planet Productions.
I am, however, a performer at heart. I am currently on the board of Speak the Speech, and I am performing in two shows this summer with Masque Alfresco. Below you can download a copy of my headshot and acting resume.
