music clearance & licensing

We work with the music companies to get you all the clearances and licensing you need by handling the negotiations, contracts and payments.


We can also do specialty contracts, and whatever else you throw at us, so you go into production - paying as little as possible for talent - with all legal issues handled to your advantage.


rights acquisitions

Do you need permission to use that film clip, photo or quote? We will do the research and negotiations to obtain rights for use.


print


We can handle all the negotiations and paperwork for you, including: bids, negotiations and execution of contracts with photographers, illustrators, models, etc. We can also act as a print producer for intricate shoots.


network clearance

Talent Etc. will undertake the assignment of obtaining clearance from each of the network’s clearance departments. We will assist you in reviewing a script or storyboard and address potential areas of concern, if any and how to address them before production begins. If a challenge is present, you may want to produce different versions or alternate scenes based on network feedback.


internet monitoring

We will search the internet for commercials that have expired rights. For example: A spot is placed on You Tube, we will request that You Tube remove it before the client has to pay the talent.


legal

We look over all scripts, storyboards and print to ensure that all legal requirements are met. We will provide specialized releases/contracts, such as celebrity contracts, testimonials and any necessary permissions – trademarks, copyrighted material name or product releases, tv network or local clearances, for example – can be obtained.


If letters of indemnification or substantiation from a client are required, we can prepare that paperwork as well. We do work with an outside law firm when their expertise is required.

seminars

We do custom seminars for agency personnel and/or clients. They help explain the basic rules of advertising business affairs – what to look for in a script that might be a problem; the legal ramifications of production; new trouble areas that are popping up in the industry. We can customize for account people (junior or senior); production; or the client. It’s a really good way to brush up on issues to keep back of mind when in the creative process. It’s also a good way to educate clients so they will be more aware of the process and the financial and legal ramifications which are inherent to creative and production. A new area we’ve done a lot of work in is working with interactive departments to acquaint them with legal rules and regulations pertaining to the internet.
